Transitional Dresses - Day to Night

Transitional dresses are ones which can be worn during the day with flats and boots and brought easily from day to night by dressing up with a clutch and heels.

Here are my top 5 Day to Night dresses for this season:

  1. Stripe Dress
The Stripe Dress is always a staple at any time of year that can easily be dressed up or dressed down according to how you style it. Oasis have brought out this fabulous striped skater style dress that does the job from day to night. For the day I would wear it with a black tote bag , printed scarf and boots. For the evening I would dress it up with heels, bracelets and a plain clutch bag (not forgetting the red lipstick).

2. The Floral Dress

Another Oasis favourite of mine which I bought last week is this beautiful floral wrap dress. At first glance I thought it would be so unflattering but when I tried it on, it is so flattering and beautiful.
The ruffle effect is so stunning, it really adds character to the dress which already boasts a beautiful floral pattern in complimentary colours.
The Oasis Dandelion dress can be dressed down (my advice would be to wear a camisole underneath for day time) with a blazer, tights and boots. In order to transfer from day to night, try classic black heels, a necklace and a black clutch bag.

3.  The Little Red Dress

Normally Topshop dresses a little bit on the short side for me being 5'8. However I found this gorgeous t-shirt style dress which I could not pass by. The colour is a Mulberry/Oxblood which is specially beautiful for the winter season. Can be dressed up for Christmas/New Years parties and down for work at the office.
I am especially loving the high low effect of the dress.
PS I also have it in black and forest green!

4. Lace Spring Dress

Warehouse is one of my favorite shops and always manages to bring out some lovely dresses each season which leaves me no choice but to purchase them! This unique lace detailed dress is soon to be added to my collection, with lace on the sleeves and around the end, it really is a fantastic Spring/Summer dress to invest in.

LACE INSERT SHIFT DRESS

5. Textured Jacquard Dress

Another Oasis favourite of mine, is this little black dress that I bought yesterday in the St. Stephen's Green Store. I was hesitant to buy it as I thought it would be bulky and short for my figure/height, however when I tried it on it was love! The jacquard effect really makes this dress, the sleeves are short but flattering and the material is so soft. Perfect for dressing up and down, for any occasion. I would wear it with a pop of colour clutch such as yellow or red. The have the dress online in navy which I may just have to get next!

Marc by Marc Jacobs Beauty

A wise man once stated:
"I always find beauty in things that are odd and imperfect - they are much more interesting."

This wise man is Marc Jacobs.
I have always been obsessed with EVERYTHING Mr. Jacobs creates. My first designer bag out of my wages was a Marc by Marc Jacobs Hillier Hobo in plum. Over the years I grew so in love with the brand, I now have a fabulous selection of watches, scarves and bags. In my opinion, he is a genius. To add to his success stories,  Marc Jacobs have recently launched a beauty range which I think I need to try it out!! It just launched on the www.marcjacobs.com but does not ship to Ireland :( I hope I can find somewhere that sells it!

Summer Skin - Ziaja Cocoa Butter

I have always opted for  more expensive body and hand creams over the last few years, however I came across a Polish brand named Ziaja (pronounced jihaya ;-)) and I must admit, I am so impressed by the Ziaja Cocoa Butter Range.
At first glace, I was not too keen on the packaging however this just proves it is what is on the inside that counts as the Cocoa Butter Range is truly amazing!
I have been using the Cocoa Hand Cream and Cocoa Body Butter for the last two weeks and I can honestly admit that I  really can feel a difference with my skin. Due to the current unusual heatwave weather, my skin needs more attention than usual, the sun exposure requires more TLC in order to prolong my "tan" and sooth after sun down.

Ziaja Cocoa Body Butter €7.99
Ziaja Cocoa Hand Cream €2.99

Body Butter
After the shower I apply a layer of the Cocoa Body Butter all over my body but concentrate more on sensitive areas prone to stretchmarks. The body butter contains key ingredients such as Vitamin E & Omega 6 which is vital for long lasting smooth skin care and I can't believe it is only €7.99!
This product is great for nourishing your body after sun exposure. The butter has a lovely texture and dries instantly in comparison to other brands that takes ages to dry, not to mention it smells amazing!!

Hand Cream
I use the Ziaja Cocoa Hand Cream several times a day and work and before going to bed. I was never really the type of person to use a hand cream but I thought I should really start looking after my hands and nails since they are most exposed to the sun all the time, and the I could not turn it down for the price of €2.99. This hand cream is the same range as the body butter but a lot lighter and smoother in texture. It dries almost instantly, feels luxurious and smells delicious! It consists of ingredients such as cocoa butter and canola oil, and only requires using small amounts at a time so its long lasting.

I highly recommend trying out the Ziaja Cocoa Butter range, especially if you are on a budget, available at www.originalbeauty.ie or most stand alone pharmacies in Ireland.

Next I think I will check out the Ziaja sun care lotion range to take on holidays with me in the summer :)

Marc by Marc Jacobs

Ok I am officially BOLD, but I had to get these treats, I just could not resist the colour of the Natasha "Cylinder Grey" with silver hardware. I remember back in 2006 I saw a MBMJ grey bag with silver hardware in Brown Thomas but when I eventually when to buy it, it had sold out :'(
7 years later I finally have one <3

....and of course I needed a scarf, MBMJ reluctant stars in Purple Marquis.

No more bags for awhile now ;)

Belgium (Brussels & Brugge)

Belgium City Break - I visited Belgium (Brussels & Brugge) for a long weekend back in March.
What a beautiful country to visit for a short trip. We arrived in Brussels early in the morning and then took the day to explore the city and to drink some lovely mulled wine ;) before departing by train to Brugge which is the most quaint little city I have visited yet - the canals, the streets and the people were just amazing.
There is quite a bit to do and see when in Brugge which is perfect to squeeze into a a long weekend city
break.

We found this gorgeous little bar "Cafe Red Roses" which offers a fine selection of Belgian Trappist Beer - although I am not the fondest of beer myself I did enjoy a lovely glass of white wine, however we did opt to try a selection of the Trappist beers to taste (my bf loved). The cafe itself is about a 10 min walk from Brugge square and decorated with roses everywhere from the ceilings to little decorations on the table - absolutely fabulous - not to mention the customer service was top class!

My favourite part was visiting the art work of the famous Salvador Dali, the museum is situated in Brugge square and really enjoyable to walk around and admire the crazy paintings of Salvador Dali.

If you are the ultimate chocolate fan like I am, then Belgium is the place to be, every single corner there is a cafe or chocolate shop and the smell of melted chocolate on the street seriously lures you in to try some - I probably came back a few pounds heavier haha. We tried the "ultimate" hot chocolate which was basically a soup bowl filled with hot milk, then they bring a selection of white, dark & milk chocolate to add to your milk  and create your own hot chocolate. Glorious!
